CAPRI is a space that looks crammed even when it is empty, a space that inevitably questions the distinction of art and non-art. Handling the ambiguous relation between art and the room's predominant features has thus been a challenge for all of the 32 shows so far.
As CAPRI's anniversary exhibition, O-Form will accentuate this problem of excess and limitations by adding to its special conditions the aspects of quantity, of chance and of time.
16 artists have been invited to contribute to the installation on a day-by-day basis and lots have been drawn to fix the particular dates. It is each participant's decision what kind of art or non art objects/images /texts/sounds etc. she or he wishes to be shown in O-Form.
If presentation/representation is being read as 'creating an actual awareness of something', O-Form actualizes the dubiousness of categories like authorship, value and the integrity of an art work: What will become of it when the exhibition consciously failes to reaffirm a "piece's" state as a defined entity?
It is not predictable whether this will just culminate in an entertaining labyrinth of further questions or whether O-Form will generate some answers, too. Certainly the accumulation of surfaces, shapes and contents will lead to various transformations and alliances. Besides of its temporality, the installation is not subjected to a spatial or a formal limitation.
