Vision Master

From 1991-97 I studied painting at the Academy of Arts in Berlin. Only during the MA-year at Middlesex University London in 1998/99 the focus of my interst shifted to photography and sculptural installation. But there is still a painterly view. Some works are a direct examination of the formal means of painting („Painter’s Working Material“).
I produce photographies and three-dimensional works parallely, they develop one out of the other. On „Vision Master“ for example I worked at the same time as on „Painter’s Working Material“.
„Vision Master“ is a pile of boxes, which can be seen as monitor boxes. But already the unusual placement of the handles exposes them as amateurishly built. With the help of mirrors, lamps and romantic nature-photos inside an enchanting world is built, which by means of the different possible perspectives is constantly deprived of it’s mystique.
Shifting and confusion of levels as in this work is also the basis for lots of my photographies. So space changes into surface, thus conceivable as painting.
The motifs of my pictures I find in my studio, between technical devices and wrappings.
